Jaintia Hills located in the state of Meghalaya is bordered by Khasi Hills district on the East, on the South by Bangladesh and on the East and North by the state of Assam.It is a beautiful place full of breathtaking locations. Thousands of tourists visit this place every year to enjoy its scenic beauty. Jaintia hill is popular for activities such as Agriculture and Mining. There are also different durbars in the district like Elaka Durbar, Syiem Durbar and village durbar. These durbars are also an important part of their local culture. Lawmusiang


Lawmusiang is the largest market and also the commercial centre of Jaintia Hills.  Lawmusiang market day is held once in eight day circle.

Nartiang Monoliths

Nartiang monoliths is one of the most visited tourist places in Jaintia hills. It is one of the biggest collection of monoliths in one single area in Meghalaya

Ruparsor bathing ghat


Just 8kms from Dawki on the Jowai Muktapurthere is the Rupasor Bathing ghat. This pool is believed to have been constructed by U Luh Lyngskor Lamare and U Mar Phalyngki under the direction of the Jaintia King.It is said that the pool was used by the royal family.

Umlawan Cave

Umlawan Cave is located in the Lumshnong village in the West Jaintia Hill. Recently the cave is declared as the longest and also the deepest cave in the sub-continent. The Umlawan cave is inter­connected with another two other caves namely Umskor caves and Kot-Sati. The cave is 21kms long and kms and about 100 m in depth. A few of these caves have been explored and surveyed till date.

Mawsynram

Mawsynram is also located at a distance of about 56 kms from Shillong. Mawsynram is a small village and it is crowned as the wettest place on earth. The Mawjymbuin Cave in Mawsynram, is one of the popular caves in Meghalaya.
